Sicilian Pistachio Butter, Sicilian Pistachio Paste, Pure Sicilian Pistachio Paste, 100% Sicilian Pistachio Paste and many other different terms are written on products available on supermarket shelves and online.
All these definitions often create confusion in the minds of anyone wishing to purchase them, which is why, as nuts experts, we are trying to provide some clarity.
We have chosen to call it Italian Sicilian Pistachio Cream 100% because it is obtained by grinding exclusively nuts (100% Italian Sicilian Pistachio Cream) without adding plant oil or sugar and sweeteners, salt, flavourings, emulsifiers or other additives. Usually, on the other hand, Sicilian Pistachio Butter that can be currently found on sale contains sugar, emulsifiers and oil in addition to pistachios.
History
The pistachios come from Italy and are grown in Sicily, in the provinces of Agrigento and Caltanissetta. After harvesting, each Sicilian pistachio is shelled and carefully peeled before being grinded according to precise parameters.
